2015 Recap, onto 2016!

It's 2016, and I couldn't be happier about all that 2015 was for me.

January

wrote some pretty awesome notes to self for 2015, still one of my favorite posts from last year. // setting up shop again after 3 months in Africa - I worked out of our temporary home for trials and other small sessions, which happened to be my mom-in-law's house!  it couldn't have worked out more beautifully.  // got to meet some of my 2015  brides for trials // went to Universal Studios with John's side of the family!  Hogwarts, anybody?

February

started dreaming about a new website with pretty photos - Nancy Ray obliged for a chilly morning photoshoot.  many of the photos you can see on the website now! // joined a beautiful styled shoot with my friends at Live View Studios at the (then) new Mim's House.  this shoot was later featured on Style Me Pretty! // more trials for more beautiful brides // hosted our friends from England and Ohio at our family home on the NC coast

March

got to do hair and makeup on my BFF/SIL Nancy for a maternity styled shoot with Lauren Jolly Photography, which was later featured on Cottage Hill! // nancy's awesome fishtail side braid and Milly :) // my first bride of the year, Leah // started offering personal consultation and shopping to my list of services.  I now have Target memorized.

April

was invited to provide hair and makeup for one of the Southern Weddings V8 editorial shoots! // the shoot was beautiful and these were 3 of my 4 models.  you can see the spread in the SWV8 magazine! //  provided a little makeup glam for the Southern Weddings gals for their team retreat and photoshoot // was asked to model (!!!) with John for a sweet styled shoot with Live View Studios, which was later featured on Cottage Hill!

May

May as absolutely nuts-o.  John and I were preparing for our upcoming 4-month trip to Israel, and I was booking as much as possible!

bridesmaid updo / my last wedding before leaving // a wedding at The Carolina Inn with @beignetmarriesdanish // beautiful simple curls for an American bridal portrait with Hand Me Down Style// a wedding on the sound in Washington, NC // my last styled shoot with Jake + Heather, featured as 2015's most popular styled shoot on Magnolia Rouge! // met my then-newest nice Milly and gussied up Nancy / /one of my largest weddings to date with Southern Weddings editor Lisa!

June through October

John and I spent four months exploring Israel and meeting with sweet friends all over that area.  This was an amazing time of just going for it, putting life as we knew it on hold, and asking God what He wanted us to do every step of the way and in our lives.  I even got to do a little hair and makeup!  We adventured over to Jordan for a bit, and stood jaw-dropped while taking in the beauty that is Petra.  On the way home, we stopped in The Netherlands and met with our dear friends from our time in Africa at Harvest School (October-December 2014).

October

While settling back home, I worked with Native State Design Co on finishing up my new website to release // got my kit back out and refreshed with some new product! // my first wedding back / /and a homecoming!

November

Attended the SWV8 Launch party and celebrated 4 LULA appearances in the new issue! // launched my new website // did a little bridal makeup // visited Nashville, TN with family and friends after Thanksgiving

December

I wrapped up the year with a few last trials, events, a styled shoot with Stephanie Scholl Events at the new Parlour Chapel, and one last wedding on New Years Eve!

December was a bit of a tough month personally as a family, so we took it pretty easy while dreaming and praying over the coming year.  There was lots of reading, resting, and enjoying the holidays with family.

I am so looking forward to 2016 and all it has in store for LULA, and for me personally!  Looking forward to a year of laughter, serenity, and dreams coming to fruition!

With blush + bobby pins, and wishing you the best year,

Sam
